The Sign Authority, Inc., located in Wheaton, IL recently fabricated and installed this outdoor post and panel sign for Hunt Club Village located in St. Charles, IL. Hunt Club Village is one of many properties around the Chicagoland area for unassisted senior living. The apartment complex is designed as community for seniors and the property management offers activities and entertainment for the residents.
Hunt Club Village contacted The Sign Authority because their existing post and panel sign was damaged in a storm. We sent someone out to the location to inspect the sign, but it could not be saved. We needed to build a brand-new sign and install the sign on new posts. We began the process by generating a proof of the artwork on the sign using the corporate colors. We can color match any paint color or pms color that is given to us. We send the proof to the client and make sure that we have everything correct.
After the sign has been fabricated it is time to set up the install. The first thing we always do is contact the client to mark the site with paint so that we can set up a J.U.L.I.E. visit. J.U.L.I.E is an organization that sets up site visits from Com Ed, Nicor and various utility companies. They will come out and mark the site so that we can make sure when we dig, we will not hit any lines. When digging for post and panels signs, the posts should always go at least 2.5’ in the ground. We also pour concrete when requested to make sure the posts don’t move and shift. Sometimes, depending on the frost line, posts can shift over time, but a proper install will avoid such issues.
Post and panel signs can come in a variety of substrates for the panels. In the case of this post and panel sign, we used an alumicore material that is 6mm thick. The center of the panel is corrugated, not solid to minimize the weight of the sign. It the corrugated aluminum material also saves money because you are using less aluminum to make the sign. The aluminum substrate can be custom cut in almost any shape. The gentle curve at the top of this sign gives it a nice, pleasing aesthetic.
